I think we are dealing with a kind of hypokalemic periodic paralysis. That is my current research focus. Scary possibility, but with explanations.

It was harder for Dr. Rivas to be aware of the cyclic nature of the problem because he sees Ken at approximately the same time every day.

Ken doesn't have the disease of hypokalemic periodic paralysis, but he does have the same symptoms and they could be caused by the same kinds of things that trigger the episodes for people with that disease. So they will be taking a lot of glucose tests today and giving him electrolytes twice a day. I am hopeful again. It is good to have them testing a new hypothesis.


The spinal MRI showed normal. More good news there.
