We really rely on
electricity and missed it when we lost it at 5:30 last night. Fortunately
we had eaten an early dinner. But it was dark outside. No heaters,
no Internet, and limited battery light and life. So we climbed into bed
and pulled up the covers. When we got up to take bedtime pills, we were
happy to see a crew out in the rain working on the lines. It must have
been terrible for them, even with a generator. We got power back by
10:45, but I stayed mostly in bed until about 5:45 this morning. It was
still dark, but enough bed is enough. With heat and power back there is
more that can be done.
I organized three more rooms today and made a shopping list. The rain has
stopped and we sometimes see the sun. Ken will join me for a walk.
Volcan Copahue is being active. It is about 65 miles away as the crow
flies, about twice that by roads. They are doing evacuation of the
immediate area, but it shouldn't affect us.
